Initial Visit
At your initial visit you will be given a complete and comprehensive exam. This will include full head and neck exam, temperomandibular joint exam, (jaw joint) periodontal exam, (gums) hard and soft tissue exam, including an oral cancer screening, and caries detection. Radiographs are needed to do a complete diagnostic exam.
If your gum tissues are healthy, we will do a cleaning. If you have radiographs from a previous dentist, feel free to forward them to us. Please inform us if you have any medical conditions in which you may need to premedicate. For example, a joint replacement, mitral valve prolapse, history of rheumatic fever with heart involvement, a prosthetic valve, a shunt for dialysis, or for chemotherapy.
Please bring a list of all your medications, and take them as prescribed by your doctor, you do not need to modify your routine for your initial visit. Please bring your medical or dental health insurance card so we may help you process the claim. Please call with any questions; out well-trained front desk personnel will be more than happy to explain any part of this process. (202) 863-1600
