Laser Dentistry

We have a Biolase dental laser that has revolutionized and simplified many traditional procedures, such as minor gum surgeries and small fillings. With the dental laser, we are able to maximize healing and comfort while minimizing trauma and anesthetic. The Biolase dental laser can be used for a wide range of procedures, such as trimming overgrown gum tissue, crown lengthening, treating canker sores and other oral lesions, and even performing fillings. The laser promotes faster healing, allows the use of less anesthetic, creates less bleeding, and speeds up treatment.

We also have a Diagnodent dental laser, which is used for diagnosing decay. Traditional methods of decay detection rely on two-dimensional x-rays and a clinical exam; however, studies have proven that this method alone can miss up to 50% of cavities. The Diagnodent laser allows us to identify decay earlier and more accurately. It is a painless and quick process that shines a light similar to a laser pointer into the tooth, and then creates a numerical reading based on the amount of fluorescence. When the number reaches a certain threshold, decay is definitely present and restoration is indicated. Catching and treating small cavities earlier ultimately means less time in the dental chair and less major dental work long term.
