Veneers
Veneers are fabricated out of a very hard material used to mimic the body’s natural enamel. They can replicate a tooth’s color, translucency, and texture. We use ceramic, or porcelain to make thin laminates which we bond to the teeth.
The porcelain has a high resistance to wear, making it long lasting. It will not discolor over time. Veneers can be used to lighten up stained teeth, to correct minor misaligned teeth, to close spaces, to fix cracked or chipped teeth, or to completely rejuvenate a smile.
This procedure takes two visits to the dentist. At the first visit, the teeth to receive veneers are prepared. A small amount of enamel is removed from the front of the tooth about a fingernail thick to make room for the ceramic. An impression of the teeth is taken for fabrication.
Temporary veneers are made to protect the prepared teeth from cold. At the next visit, the veneers are back from the lab and tried in. If they fit well and the color is acceptable, they are permanently bonded to your teeth.
